CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Open for business if somewhat differently!

The Government late Tuesday 12th May 2020 surprised everyone in the Industry by enabling Agents to open offices for business and conduct viewings and other associated property inspections including market appraisals commonly known as 'Valuations'.  

Harrison Edge have since March 24th been working remotely from home and with the help of solicitors, been able to arrange the legal completion of a number of suitable pre-agreed sales. 

In light of this new guidance Harrison Edge will, for the time being,  continue to keep the town office closed but otherwise be available for all other aspects of the profession mindful of the guidelines for Social Distancing etc.  Further clarification and guidance is being prepared and will be made available to all. 

Property sales and lettings are one of the first areas of business to resume and the guidance clearly states that this is not a return to normality. New processes must be put in place to ensure that social distancing and safety are the top priority. 

 

No open house viewings are permitted, and agents should not drive clients to appointments.

 

Checks should be made on all parties to ensure that nobody with any Coronavirus symptoms takes part in any in-person activity.   Physical viewings should only be taking place where there is serious intention to rent or buy.

 

Arrangements for viewings should only involve the number of participants that are essential, in many cases this will mean less buyers or applicants than previously.

 

Agents can accompany physical viewings and seek to maintain a minimum of 2 metres distance from others wherever possible. Where social distancing is not possible and the visit is within an enclosed space, they should consider wearing a face covering. The householder must remain outside or in another room during viewings and the householder is responsible for cleaning and sanitising surfaces, opening windows, and ensuring maximum ventilation.


Harrison Edge take their responsibilities very seriously and has been preparing for this moment for the past weeks.  For the foreseeable future we will continue to be contactable remotely and office meetings will be by appointment only for now.  A full system is in place to deal with currently agreed sales both those already Exchanged and those heading in that direction.

The British Association of Removers have instructed their Members to return to work albeit with stringent processes in place.  The property market will however become more active.

Tenants should continue to make contact as required, as normal should they be experiencing difficulties.  However, it is likely some Trades may still be difficult to engage.  Understanding is required by everyone.
